Thank you to all the talented and enthusiastic students who worked so hard and became such a supportive and inspirational ‘team’ sharing ideas, knowledge and comments as we developed our articles.

In this practical writing workshop we’ll enjoy applying our creativity to writing light-hearted easy-reading features/ articles. We’ll look at popular local and national magazines to discover what styles, lengths and subjects are being chosen by editors for publication. Using our own interests as a basis, we’ll tease out promising subjects and learn how to develop, expand, and illustrate features for publication. We’ll explore thinking laterally to ensure we’re always alert to that crucial unique ‘angle’, finding the perfect ‘hook’ to attract editors and entertain readers. At the end of this course everyone will have started to develop at least one feature using a ‘creative’ approach, understand the opportunities available for feature writers, and the submission process.
